Praise Header

We can hardly live a perfect life, but we can live a surpassing one with the heavenly faith received through God’s grace. Through faith we will be able to turn our eyes from difficult circumstances and focus on who He is and what He has done. Once we turn our eyes back to God, our praise to Him will flow out of us naturally. However, it is usually not our habit to do so. We ought to exercise our will consciously and intentionally to praise Him. May the Spirit help us to proclaim His name and wonderful deeds, and “ascribe to Him the glory due His name”.

Month of Praising - Day 3

Psalm631-8
Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.
Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.
When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.
Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.
My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Psalm was written when David, as a king, fleed to the wilderness of Judah to escape from Absalom (refer to verse 11). David here was not worried about his lack of basic necessities, nor was he troubled by the betrayal of his beloved son, but he was deeply sad because he couldn't enjoy the fellowship with God as he was in the tabernacle.

Indeed, in the wilderness, a dry and thirsty land where there is no water, anyone would feel lonely, sad and lost. However, to be in the wilderness is also a precious opportunity to meet God alone. The soul of David was satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and his mouth praised the Lord with joyful lips when he remembered the mercy of God and meditated on His wonderful deeds. The true and deep praises of God cannot be imitated or learnt, rather, it is a natural result of us experiencing God and getting to know Him more and more. May we praise the Lord in each and every situation, because He is all and in all!
